Stamford, Conn. (WTNH) - The woman mauled by a chimpanzee over a year ago is expected to attend her daughter's high school graduation in Stamford.

Charla Nash nearly died after she was attacked by her friend's chimp, Travis, in Stamford back in February of 2009. She is still recovering at an assisted living center in the Boston area, but says she intends to attend her daughter's graduation from Westhill High this Thursday.

Nash is also scheduled to make a statement after the graduation ceremony.

Prosecutors did not file criminal charges against Sandra Herold, the chimp's owner, but Nash's family is pursuing a civil lawsuit against her estate, the city of Stamford and the state of Connecticut. Herold passed away in May of 2010.
