Students feel the heat after AC breaks

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CTPost.com) -- Some 300 students attending summer school at Tisdale School this week have been brushing up on math reading -- and how to stay cool.

That is because since classes started on Monday, the six-year-old school on Hollister Avenue has been without air conditioning.

Kevin Shafer, a district spokesman, said a replacement for the system's broken component has been ordered. "It will be fixed as soon as possible," he said.

In the meantime, teachers and students have positioned themselves near open windows and in front of small portable fans for the morning-long sessions.
