BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CTPOST) -- Two children were injured, one reportedly with life-threatening injuries, Friday night when the bicycle they were riding was struck by a sport utility vehicle near the corner of Barnum and Central avenues.

One of the victims suffered traumatic injuries that were possibly life threatening, according to witnesses and emergency personnel. The other was seriously injured, but the injuries were not expected to be life threatening.

The two children were taken to Bridgeport Hospital .

A witness, who didn't want to be identified, said she comforted one of the children while he laid in the street before an ambulance arrived. She said he was laying perfectly still, was briefly unconscious and didn't appear to be breathing. But she said he suddenly woke up and tried to move. He appeared to have a broken leg, the woman said.
