Tanker crashes into tree in Newtown

    NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A tanker truck crashed into a tree in Newtown Wednesday morning, and the driver was taken to the hospital.

    Police say it happened at Berkshire Rd (Rte 34) and Stone Bridge Trail at 4:27 am.

    The unidentified driver was taken to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries.

    According to police the tanker was empty at the time.

    Police have not said what led to the crash.
