GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- Downed wires closed part of Route 1 and knocked out power to an area around Greenwich High School this morning, police said.
The wire started to burn and fell to the ground on Route 1 / East Putnam Ave. near Greenwich High School around 4:30 a.m.
Police closed East Putnam Ave. between Old Church and Hillside, as well as Overlook.
A CL&P spokesperson said there was no transformer explosion, as had been first suggested by police.
The wire was repaired and all power was restored by 8:30 a.m.
No one was hurt in the incident.
