Greenwich, Conn. (AP) - A Greenwich man charged with killing his former daughter-in-law over a property dispute 18 months ago is heading to trial.

Seventy-seven-year-old Gerardo Lombardi is set to stand trial starting March 9 in Stamford Superior Court. He is charged with murder in the death of 49-year-old Alison McKnight.

Prosecutors say she lived next door to Lombardi and his son, who was her ex-husband, and that the assault occurred when she and Lombardi quarreled over a fence.

McKnight, who had a financial interest in the Lombardi property, died of gunshot and stab wounds.

Lombardi has pleaded not guilty. He has undergone several psychiatric evaluations since the incident, including treatment at the state's Whiting Forensic Institute in Middletown.
