Lockdown lifted at 3 Bridgeport schools

Bridgeport, Conn. (WTNH) - Harding and Central High Schools were in lockdown for a short time this afternoon as a result of an incident at Harding. Central was locked down as a precaution.

Students in all three schools were dismissed shortly before 2:45 p.m.

News 8 has learned that Bridgeport police received an anonymous tip that someone armed with a gun was headed in the direction of Harding High School. The person did manage to get inside the school.

That person and the gun have not yet been located.

According to police, there was a shooting at a Bridgeport apartment complex this afternoon. It is not known if the incidents are connected.

Central Avenue, between Mead Street and Boston Avenue was also closed.

The police investigation is ongoing.
