WILTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Wilton Police are actively investigating a shooting that left a man with life-threatening injuries. The woman he lived with was also shot.
Around 8 a.m. Monday police received a 911 call of gunshots fired at a private residence on Grunman Ave.
Upon arrival, police found an injured female victim at a neighboring residence. Officers then located a male victim in an adjacent home, suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound.
Police said the two injured parties, a 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, live together in the home where the man was found.
No one else was present at the time of the incident.
After initial investigation, police said it appears that the residents were involved in a struggle with a rifle during which time it discharged.
The man was struck in the face by a fired round. He sustained life threatening injuries.
The woman suffered non-life threatening facial injuries. She was able to leave the residence and alert a neighbor who called 911.
The incident remains under investigation.
