GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- Fire department officials confirmed that there was an underground explosion in Greenwich Saturday morning.

Officials said there was an electric problem in an underground vault that caused an explosion at 25 Railroad Avenue.

1,758 residents were without power in Greenwich around the time of the explosion, but it is unknown if the outages are at all related to the explosion.
