HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Federal officials say more than $2 million is coming to Connecticut programs that focus on preventing substance abuse among children and teens.
The 18 programs were recently picked for grants from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Of those, four are receiving grant funds for the first time.
The programs are prevention councils, task forces, community health groups and municipal substance abuse and alcohol abuse prevention services across Connecticut.
Thirteen programs are receiving $125,000 each. Grants for the other five programs range from about $46,000 to $100,000.
U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd recently announced the grants.
