CANTON, Conn. (WTNH)-- A three-year-old child was taken to the hospital after being dragged under a car in Canton.

It happened around 10 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Valley Sports Center. Police say the child was hit by a car driven by a family member.

Police tell us at one point the child was pinned under the car's front tire. The un-named three-year-old was later removed and taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

It was a witness who eventually pulled the child out from under the car.

We're told the three-year-old was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital with injuries to her upper body and head.

At this time, police say the incident is still under investigation. They do not expect to file any charges at this time.
