Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - Town and cities got federal funds to make repairs, but individuals did not.

For the first time since the March floods, the state filed an appeal of President Obama's decision to deny federal aid to homeowners, renters and employers. Governor Rell put together the appeal and used information called into 211 by flood victims.

Rell says the state's preliminary damage assessment found 1,300 homes in the five counties suffered damage totalling more than $5 million.
