Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - The numbers are in and Linda McMahon has won the nomination to run for Senate at the GOP Convention at the Connecticut Convention Center.

McMahon walked away with 737 votes, Rob Simmons ended with 632 and Peter Schiff  had 44. 708 votes were needed for the nomination.

McMahon says she's going to "lay the smackdown" on Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal in November.

She stepped down as chief executive officer of WWE last fall to run and pledged $50 million for the race.

The candidate for governor will also be chosen this weekend. Lt. Gov. Mike Fedele, Former Ambassador Tom Foley, Oz Graebel and Larry DiNardis hope to earn a spot on the ballot. Friday night's agenda also included a tribute for outgoing Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
