Middletown, Conn. (WTNH) - Xavier High School in Middletown will have a new principal starting July 1st.
Headmaster Brother Brian Davis, C.F.X. announced the appointment of Mr. Brendan Donohue as the new principal. "It has been my pleasure to work with Mr. Donohue since my arrival at Xavier last summer, and I look forward to working with him in his new role as principal," said Headmaster Brother Brian Davis.
A letter went out to all parents and guardians stating the good news. "Mr. Donohue has served at Xavier High School for the past eight years, arriving in 2002 as a member of our social studies department, and becoming academic dean for grades nine and ten in 2004," said Headmaster Brother Brian Davis. "Mr. Donohue is clearly committed to perpetuating the Catholic and Xaverian identity of our school begun by Brother Robert Sullivan and the first faculty of Brothers and lay colleagues forty-seven years ago," added Davis.
Since last summer Brother Brian has served as both headmaster and principal. Xavier High School adopted the dual roles of headmaster and principal after being formally recognized as one of the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools in 1998. The headmaster is in charge of the administrative tasks of the school (much like a superintendent in the public schools) and the principal the educational duties.
