Hartford (WTNH) - Governor Jodi Rell on Friday fired back at Democrat Ned Lamont, who has come out swinging against her.
Lamont, who announced his exploratory committee for Governor
this week, has been attacking Governor Rell's handling of the
budget. During a speech on Thursday at
Central Connecticut State University, Lamont implied that
both the Governor and
legislature were to blame for a bad budget and that it was
bankrupting the state
with too much borrowing.
"I appreciate his new found interest here but I would tell you; ask him if he would spend his energies convincing his fellow Democrats in the legislature to work with me to help cut spending and reduce the size of government," the Governor said. "And, if he'd recognize that their tax and spend ways are probably what's bankrupting our state."
Governor Rell has promised to announce her intentions by the end
of this month.
