ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) -- Raymond Krawiec, a 92-year-old man who was reported missing Sunday, has been found dead, police said. His death does not appear to be suspicious.
"We knew that he could not have gotten far on foot. We concentrated our efforts around and near the facility, focused on those areas that we thought somebody could walk to relatively easily and that's where we focused our search, "said Lt. Brian Klett of the Rocky Hill Police Dept.
According to police, around noon a worker at Sysco Food Distribution reported finding what appeared to be a deceased man. When police arrived they determined it was Krawiec.
The location where Krawiec's body was found is about a mile from where he lived.
"I know we hit this place hard, trooper 1 was in the air as well. It's just unfortunate that it ended the way that it did," said Lt. Klett.
Police issued a Silver Alert Sunday for Krawiec. He was last seen that morning.
Police from several neighboring towns assisted in the search. The Connecticut Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill was used as a staging area for search efforts. The state police helicopter was also used to look for Krawiec.
The investigation into his death is continuing, but police say there doesn't appear to be anything suspicious.
The cause of death has not been determined.
