Granby, Conn. (WTNH) - The historic Granby Dewey Oak believed to be the oldest oak tree in the state and one of the oldest in North America may be lost because of damage from the Autumn Nor'easter.

The White Oak is believed to be between 400 and 500 years old and the symbol of the town of Granby.

40 percent of the plumes broke from the weight of the snow.

The tree is under the control of the Granby Land Trust and a volunteer arborist, who will attempt to save the tree, but the prognosis is said to be doubtful.
