WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH) -- Your next flight might have you holding onto your seat; American Airlines says some of their seats have been coming loose.
American Airlines says passenger seats have come loose on at least three recent flights. And crews are being called in to inspect them.
The romanticism of air travel is a thing of the past for those that remember the "good old days" of flying the friendly skies.
"You don't have a lot of leg room, not a lot of room on the plane," one passenger said.
Funny she should mention "leg room" in light of troubles that scared passengers on American Airlines flights.
"We have some seats loose in the back and, uh, we need to return to base," a pilot announced.
A third set of seats on a 757 reportedly came loose on an another AA plane, the third incident in less than a week.
News 8 spoke with one woman who was on one those flights.
"The seats flipped backwards and so, people were essentially on the laps of the passengers behind them, with their legs up in the air," the woman said.
American Airlines does not fly the 757 out of Bradley International Airport, but there is one airline there that does: United Airlines.
An American Airlines spokesperson insists the loose seats are not connected to on-going labor issues with employees. American's slogan is "We know why you fly..." The question after this PR nightmare is will people keep flying American?
"It could be sabotage, or it could be just sloppiness, either way, it's just a disaster for the airline," said George Hobica, AirFareWatchdog.com .
