SUV plunges into water, an arrest has been made

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) -- An SUV was pulled out of the water at Martha Hart Park Sunday morning and one man has been arrested, police say.

Alex Smith, 49, has been arrested in connection with the incident. He was charged with 3rd degree larceny and 3rd degree criminal mischief.

No one was inside the vehicle and police believe the SUV had been in the water for several hours.

Police said that the vehicle was pulled from the water around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
