Water main break in Bloomfield

Bloomfield, Conn. (WTNH) - About 250 homes are without water after a 12-inch main broke in Bloomfield.

The Metropolitan District (MDC) says the break happened on Simsbury Road on Monday afternoon. The water shutdown will affect customers in the following areas: Simsbury Road from Kenmore Road northerly to the vicinity of Schuyler Lane; Kenmore Road from Simsbury Road to the cul-de-sac; and Cold Springs Road from Simsbury Road to the cul-de-sac.

The repair work is expected to last well into the night.

The main was installed in 1969.
