Here is the alert sent out by Connecticut Water:
This is an important message from Connecticut Water for customers in Suffield affected by an early morning water main break.
Early this morning a water main break on Route 190 near Route 159 resulted in low or no water pressure for many customers in Suffield. As a precaution, because we cannot be sure that bacteria did not enter the water system during the period of low water pressure, we are advising customers receiving this call to take the following precautions:
Your water is safe to use for all other purposes.
We are working to restore your water service. Once water pressure is restored we will collect water samples and have them tested in state approved laboratories to confirm that bacteria did not get into the water system. We will notify you via recorded phone message when the lab confirms there are no bacteria in the tap water and you can then resume consuming your water without the extra precautions. We expect to get the first lab results within a day or two.
Updated information will be posted to our Web site, Facebook and Twitter.
