Boy struck while riding bike dies

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A boy who was struck by a car while riding his bike at night has died, police said Saturday.

Eight year old Elijah Montalvan was riding his bike late Thursday night when he was hit. He died Saturday morning, police said.

The man driving the car, identified by police as Paul Gronda, 52, faces charges of driving with a suspended license and not having insurance. Police said at this time no other charges have been filed.

Police said that Elijah suffered brain injuries and and died while at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
