EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A quest for a cure got some help from high profile players and politicians on Sunday.
Former UConn coach Jim Calhoun was joined with Governor Dannel Malloy at Sunday's JDRF walk.
Also on hand were the Huskies men's basketball team, with the players signing autographs and posing for pictures.
The walk at Rentschler Field was organized to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
"All of the technology has made living with the disease better, but we still have a long way to go," said Jon Muskrat, Executive Director of the walk, "and sort of lifting that burden of living with the disease, while finding a cure is really our mission."
The walk was also an opportunity for the organization to reach out to those children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
