Lawsuit filed in Canton hit and run

Canton, Conn. (WTNH) - A lawsuit has been filed in the hit and run case that injured a seven year old Canton girl.

The accident on January 26th seriously injured Anna Melendez. Anna was crossing Dowd Avenue in Canton with her father when she was struck.

18-year old Leonita Scanlon of Simsbury has been charged with evading responsibility in the case.

According to the lawsuit, Scanlon was speeding and driving without regard to pedestrian safety when she struck Anna.

Scanlon has not commented on the lawsuit.
