HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A unit of the Connecticut Army National Guard is teaming up with doctors and nurses from Hartford Hospital for a training event this weekend.

The exercise begins Saturday with a simulated incident near the William A. O'Neill armory in Hartford and will run through Sunday.

The 141st Medical Company of New Britain will participate in the event focused on patient treatment, evacuation and transportation. The unit will also go through medical scenarios and training at the hospital.

Maj. Gen. Thaddeus Martin, commander of the Connecticut National Guard, said the exercise will help soldiers prepare for overseas operations as well as medical response to state emergencies.

It is the second year the guard and the hospital have partnered in a medical training exercise.
