HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Gov. M. Jodi Rell says the state of Connecticut will appeal the president's denial of federal aid to homeowners, renters and employers affected by the severe flooding and storms back in March.
Rell says Tuesday's decision is both disappointing and wrong.
She directed state emergency management officials to gather information that's needed to file the formal appeal.
The denial for individual aid comes after President Barack Obama on Friday declared a major disaster following floods in southwestern and southeastern Connecticut. That declaration,
however, only allows financial assistance to state and municipal governments in Fairfield, New London and Middlesex counties.
State officials say 1,315 homes and 116 businesses were damaged in the storm.
