Hartford, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut's lodging industry is getting some tips on how to run environmentally friendly motels, hotels and beds and breakfasts.

Three workshops are planned to help operators of hotels, motels and inns learn how to reduce operating costs and gain a marketing advantage by improving efficiency in energy and water use and waste management.

The workshops are sponsored by the state Department of Environmental Protection, state Commission on Culture and Tourism and Boston Green Tourism.

Workshops are scheduled for this month at Yale University in New Haven, the Saybrook Point Inn and Spa in April and in May at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.
