CT native named Playboy's Playmate of the Month

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- When the March issue of Playboy magazine hits news stands Friday, a young model from West Hartford will be the centerfold model.

23-year-old Ashley Wilson, who goes by the name Ashley Doris in the magazine, is the first Connecticut native to ever be named Playmate of the Month.
        
News 8's Keith Kountz asked her about the experience via Skype from San Diego.

"Is this the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for you," asked News 8's Keith Kountz.

"I actually had never thought about Playboy as an option for me," Doris replied. "I had been modeling a lot in Boston, but I had never really thought about going after a Playmate spot."

"So, how did this all come about," asked Kountz.

"Well, I was in Vegas for a bikini contest and I was walking back to my room with my roommate and they happened to be casting for Playboy online and we both did it," Doris said. "I got a call about two weeks later and I shot for them in L.A. That photographer had referred me to a casting for playmate and I shot my spread three weeks later."

"I've read that you said your parents are on the conservative side, so what was it like breaking the news to them that their little girl is going to be the centerfold in Playboy magazine," asked Kountz.

"It was nerve-wracking because I didn't know how they would react," Doris said. "Thankfully, they both reacted positively, proud of me because there are 15,000 girls who submit every month, so it was kind of a shock to be in, but they reacted really well and I'm proud of that."
