Enfield standoff, Elm Street is closed

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An Enfield man has barricaded himself inside a home in an apparent standoff, police said.

Police say that Elm Street is closed between Route 190 and Moody Road. A man is alone in a home and he claims to have a knife.

Officials are talking to the man and trying too get him to come out of the house.

Surrounding homes have been evacuated and school bus routes had to be detoured.
