Marion, Conn. (WTNH) - Firefighters were called out to knock down an overnight fire at a pizza restaurant early Thursday.
Fire crews and first responders have all cleared the scene now, but the businesses in this plaza are counting themselves lucky that the fire at Verona Pizzeria didn't spread.
Southington Fire received several 911 calls around 1:40 a.m. reporting a fire inside the building on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike.
When crews arrived the fire was fully involved, but was brought under control in about 30 minutes.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Other businesses in the plaza were not damaged.
On its Web site Verona Pizzeria says it serves up pizza from a wood-fired brick oven. The restaurant also does on-site pizza catering from a wood-fired brick oven built into a converted fire truck .
The fire remains under investigation.
