ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters were called to a structure fire on Park Avenue in the Thompsonville section of Enfield Friday morning.
The flames broke out at the three story multi-family home at about 9 a.m.
Firefighters say the wind made an already difficult situation worse.
"The wind has definitely been a factor," said firefighter Mark Zarcaro. "Once it broke out of the second floor windows it took off and got the second and third floor porch going and got into the roof."
In addition to the wind, water was also an issue. Firefighters ended up moving a truck to nearby Elm Street so it could tap into a large water main.
The Red Cross is helping five adults in three families who were affected by the fire.
Everyone inside was able to get out safely.
