HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The president and chief executive of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. says he underwent surgery over the holidays to remove a brain tumor.
In a letter sent to employees on Friday, Liam E. McGee said the procedure went well and he expects to be back in the office on Monday.
The Hartford issued a statement saying the tumor was in an easily accessible location on the brain and was completely removed. Spokeswoman Shannon Lapierre would not say whether the tumor was cancerous, but said post-surgical tests show McGee is currently cancer free.
In his letter, McGee says he will be undergoing low-dose chemotherapy and radiation treatments "in an abundance of caution."
