Ice cream social promotes charity bike ride

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An ice cream social at the State Capitol on Thursday helped to promoted the Connecticut Challenge.

Cancer survivors joined state lawmakers to help promote the organizations upcoming bike ride in Westport.

"Our mission is to empower cancer survivors," explained Jeff Keith. "Today we're here to talk to state legislators about our organization and how we raise money to fund survivor programs across the state at several hospitals, not just in Hartford but Fairfield County and the rest of the state."

The Connecticut Challenge charity bike ride is Saturday, July 28 starting at 8 a.m. at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport.
