Bristol (WTNH) - A woman lost control of her pick-up truck before crashing through a garage and killing the man inside.
It wasn't icy on Sunday but the home that was victimized by a truck was at the end of a very steep hill. The vehicle went barreling down it, through the hedges at 50 Rosemary Lane in Bristol and through the garage doors, between two parked car and out the back.
As a result, 38-year-old Jeff Zyob who was in his own garage, died.
"The horrible vision I have is him laying there with the garage
door on him so I'm sure that the force of it just threw him and
knocked the door down on him," said a neighbor.
The next-door neighbor did not want to go on camera but said
she ran over just moments after it happened.
"I was in the house trying to keep the kids away from the windows," a neighbor said.
A 49-year-old woman had been driving the truck. At this point, it appears to be just an incredibly bizarre and terrible tragedy. Though the neighbor says, it doesn't appear she hit the brakes at all.
"I know the police can't say anything because of the
investigating going on but I didn't; I didn't see anything," said
the neighbor.
Bristol police will only say this is an ongoing investigation
and they are trying to figure out whether it was done intentionally
or if there was some kind of mechanical failure.
They say they do expect to file charges in the case.
It's cold comfort for those now trying to deal with this sudden and strange case.
Zyob was a postal worker. No one at their headquarters would speak to News Channel 8 about him but we're told he was a dedicated family man, survived by a son and daughter and loving wife.
"Absolutely, absolutely wonderful; best of friends not just married, best of friends, was a quiet man but just well-liked by everybody," said a neighbor.
Police are still investigating the accident.
