FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man was pulled from the Farmington River on Sunday afternoon and he survived the incident, police say.

Police received multiple 911 calls shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday regarding a possible drowning victim in the Farmington River.

A 39-year-old male victim was pulled from the water, where he was found to be unresponsive and not breathing.

CPR was performed on the man and he began to have shallow breaths under his own control.

The victim was then transported to Hartford Hospital for additional treatment.

Witnesses said that he either jumped or fell from a rope swing and landed in the water. Several bystanders jumped in and pulled the man to shore.

Witnesses also said that the man is familiar with the area and goes there often.
