Chilling 911 call from gunman

"I'm not going to kill nobody else"

Manchester, Conn. (WTNH) - Chilling audio has been released of the gunman who went on a killing spree at a Manchester beer distributor.

Omar Thornton gunned down 8 men and injured two others before turning the gun on himself early Tuesday morning at Hartford Distributors. Two other victims were also shot. One is still recovering in the hospital.

"This is Omar Thornton, the shooter over in Manchester," he says to the 9-1-1 operator.

He says repeatedly that the motive behind the shooting is because of racial harassment. "You probably want to know the reason for this. This place is a racist place, they treat me bad over here," he said.

Thornton sounds eerily calm as he talks to the 9-1-1 operator, saying, "I'm not going to kill nobody else," but also says, "I wish I could've got more of the people."

When the operator asks for his location in the building, Thornton responds, "I'm not going to tell you that. When they find me that's when everything will be over."

"Tell my people that I love them and I got to go now," Thornton said before he ended the nearly four minute phone call.

State Police tell News 8 that troopers confronted Thornton while he was still alive following the 911 call. State Police say he then killed himself in front of troopers.
