FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police say that a mulch fire that began just before 1 p.m. has closed portions of Brickyard Road.
Farmington firefighters have arrived on the scene, while police are handling road detours.
Police tell News 8 that a 911 called was placed, stating that there were plumes of smoke in the air.
Sgt. Ken Miller described the fire as a "massive smoldering pile of mulch." Since underneath the fire, the mulch is very dry, it makes for good kindle and burns easily.
News 8 has sent a team out to investigate the situation.
