NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) --A Newington school that received a letter containing an unidentified white powder will be closed on Friday May 11.

Superintendent of Newington, William Collins, confirmed that the Ruth Chaffee School will be closed down while the FBI investigates the issue.

Collins said the letter that was received at the school came from Texas, and that this is a public health issue. They want to play it safe and allow the FBI to catch the person that sent in the letter.

There is no information on any suspect at this time. All other schools in Newington will remain open.
