Hartford (AP) - Connecticut authorities have arrested the owner of an East Hartford funeral home on allegations he stole money and other valuables from dead people's homes.

The attorney for Kevin Riley says his client turned himself in to state investigators Thursday morning at Hartford Superior Court and posted $500,000 bail. He's charged with racketeering, larceny and conspiracy.

Authorities have been investigating allegations that Riley had himself appointed administrator of the estates of people who had no relatives to gain access to their belongings. Two of Riley's employees, a bookkeeper and an apprentice embalmer, have also been arrested in the case.

Riley's lawyer, John Droney, says Riley continues to deny the allegations. His first court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 29.
