Rabid raccoon attack in shopping plaza

Enfield (WTNH) - A raccoon was killed by a police officer after it scratched a minor on the leg and charged an Animal Control Officer in a shopping plaza.

The incident happened Wednesday, on October 21, around 7 p.m. at the Elm Street Kohl's and Best Buy Plaza in Enfield.

The raccoon was submitted to the State Lab for rabies testing and tested positive for rabies.

If anyone had contact with this animal, and did not report it, they are asked to call the Enfield Police Department [(860) 763-6400] and to notify your physician immediately.
