Hartford (WTNH) - A hit-and-run driver just 17 years old has been charged in an accident that left a 16-year old dead and another teen seriously injured.
The accident happened Sunday just before 9pm on Elliot Street at Wethersfield Avenue.
Police say the teen driver struck an SUV and spun out hitting a parked vehicle and two teenaged pedestrians. A police officer who was in the area at the time of the accident says the car passed him without his lights on and then went through a red light at the intersection.
16-year old Anthony Morales of Hartford died at an area hospital. 16-year old Travis Seabourne, also of Hartford, is still hospitalized with serious injuries.
The teen driver, who has not been identified because of his age, fled the accident scene on foot but was later apprehended at Hartford Hospital where he was seeking medical attention. He has been charged with second degree manslaughter, evading accident with death, and other motor vehicle charges.
