HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut authorities have identified a 75-year-old Woodbridge man whose boat was found overturned on Lake Housatonic.
The DEEP closed down part of the river to boat traffic, saying that the boat engines would interfere with the sonar they are using to try to locate the body of 75-year-old Richard N. Fiske.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said the search resumed Tuesday morning, but was suspended for the day around 4:30pm.
"We have two vessels out on the water, actively searching. The state police dive team has launched their 21-foot, rigid haul inflatable. They are using their side-scan sonar searching the area of the New Haven Rowing Club, said Col. Kyle Overturk, DEEP EnCon Police.
His overturned boat was found Monday on the Oxford-Seymour town line. Fiske left the New Haven Rowing Club Monday morning around 10:30am.
Officials do not expect foul play, calling this an accident. Overturk said the rowing scull was examined, and there was very little damage.
