SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) --A man has died at his home in Southington from what police suspect to be Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
A woman called police and said her husband was unconscious in the basement of their home at 445 Copper Ridge. Police lost contact immediately after the call came in.
"The caller had stated that her husband was downstairs and wasn't breathing," said Sgt. Lowell DePalma of the Southington Police Department.
When police and fire crews arrived on the scene along with AMR, a man and a woman were found unconscious. The man was not breathing.
The woman was taken to Bradley Memorial Hospital then transferred to another hospital in Rhode Island by Life Star.
"It's suspected at this time, it hasn't been confirmed at this time. We did find that there was different power equipment that was downstairs, I don't have a list of what that power equipment actually is, we have not been able to confirm that yet. Right now, it would be speculation as to what actually happened, if it was Carbon Monoxide. That is what's reported, and again, we're checking into that right now," said DePalma.
The man died on the scene.
The names of the victims have not yet been released, and the exact cause of the incident is still being investigated.
