A helicopter crashed in Farmington Saturday night in the area of Meadow Road. A state official said Farmington representative Bill Wadsworth (R) was onboard the helicopter at the time of the crash.

Passenger in helicopter crash identified

FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police have identified the female passenger on board a helicopter that crashed Saturday evening in Farmington.

Police confirm Irene Van was inside the helicopter piloted by State Rep. William Wadsworth that crashed over the weekend in the area of Meadow Road.

The helicopter, a Robinson R22, was destroyed.

Van was injured in the crash, but officials say she was conscious and alert when help arrived.

According to the Farmington Patch , Van's back was broken and Wadsworth suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to Hartford Hospital.

The incident is under investigation.
