HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police have identified two men who were involved in a police shooting early Wednesday morning.
Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Officers William Cody, Kenneth Medina, Kenneth Labbe, and Robert Iovanna approached a parked car they thought was suspicious in a housing complex on Wadsworth Street.
After asking the car's three occupants to put their hands up, the car's driver, identified as Ernesto Morales, 30, allegedly rammed the car into the police cruiser.
Officer Cody pull out his gun and fired at the car when it attempted to run them over.
The car then struck the side of an apartment. None of the apartment's residents were injured in the crash.
Morales was pronounced dead on the scene. A post mortem exam will be conducted to determine the exact cause of his death.
Martin Casseras, 35, was also in the car. He was transported to Hartford Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Police say the third person is considered a witness and will not face charges.
All four officers have been temporarily assigned to administrative duty while state police investigate.
