Promotion of bus-only corridor faulted

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut's transportation boss is facing some criticism that the state's $567 million bus-only corridor has not been sold to the public.

The New Britain Herald reports that Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker told the New Britain/Berlin Chamber of Commerce that CTfastrak is on schedule. The corridor is a 9.4-mile route between New Britain and Hartford providing bus transportation to commuters.

Redeker says it should be open by early 2015 and that five of six construction projects have been signed.

Attorney Coleman Levy said the project had a poor media message.

Redeker said there was some misinformation to overcome.

Downtown district director Gerry Amodio told Redeker that transportation officials haven't sold the project to the public and people need to be better informed.
