HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An evacuation has been ordered at Mather Quad on the Trinity College campus after a major gas line was damaged.
Michele Jacklin, Director Of Media Relations at Trinity College, tells News 8 a John Deere excavator hit a major gas line inside the Quad around 10:51 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The gas leak stopped around 1 p.m. and crews remain on the scene making repairs.
There was no explosion and no one was injured in the incident.
Eight buildings were evacuated while crews were on the scene to repair the damage. Classes are not in session, so few people are impacted by the closures.
A large portion of Mather Quad has been under renovation since May.
