Relay for Life events warm the heart

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Relay for life events are a lot of fun, they warm the heart and they inspire many, who are battling cancer, to keep fighting.

Lyle Moran lead the pack on a Harley Davidson. He was diagnosed more than a year ago and had to have a nine-pound tumor removed from his kidney.

He is one of dozens of survivors, caregivers, and friends trying to raise money for research, treatment, and patient support.

"I had no idea I even had it," said Moran, "we took it out a month and half later and doing good."

You hear amazing stories like his all the time, many having to go through the grueling chemo or radiation.

Nearly 700 people were at the rally, raising more than $200,000.

There are more than 60 Relay for Life events across the state.
