SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Snow isn't that fun for those of us who have to drive in it but it's a lot of fun if you have the day off. Many used the snow day to hit the slopes.
Snow on the ground means boots, snowboards and skiis.
"So you're happy to see the snow today," asked News 8's Nneka Nwosu.
"More days of skiing and snowboarding," said Joseph Wright.
These brothers have been waiting to use their Mount Southington season pass. With snow canceled, they and many others will spend the day hopping the ski lift and hitting the trails.
"To take advantage of a ski area that's so close by. It's great," said Sharon Feuerstein.
News 8 was at the mountain on Monday when artificial snow was mixed with spots of grass so they did a snow dance..."And the snow dance looks like it worked this time," asked News 8's Nwosu.
"Yea, today. We'll see for the rest of the season," said Jessica Wassil a ski instructor.
Mount Southington has had snow on the ground all season but they say it's this natural snow that brings people to the slopes.
"The fact that everything is white, the trees are capped, it's nice to have fresh powder on the ground when you're turning around. It just makes everybody want to come down and it's fun," said Mary Positano the children's program supervisor.
With the Martin Luther King holiday around the corner, the snow came at a perfect time.
"A lot of people show up this weekend, so we'll be teaching all day," said Wassil.
And they say anyone can learn.
