NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) -- New Britain Police have approved new safety measures on a busy street in the wake of a deadly hit-and-run.
Tuesday night, the police commissioners green-lighted two stop signs for North Street, one eastbound and one westbound.
It comes after a request from the grieving family of Jackson DeJesus, who was hit and killed by a car in that spot in July.
The driver still hasn't been found.
A traffic study on the intersection found that it would be safer for pedestrians and cyclists if a stop sign was put up.
"Anything helps and I'd like to see that," said Norberto Mercardo, of New Britain.
Police are still trying to find that hit-and-run driver. Anyone who might have any information is asked to give them a call.
